The Windows 11 team provides exclusive insights into Windows 11 operational optimizations, improvements to the Windows service model and orchestration engine, as well as the management of policies and rationale behind the Windows 11. System requirements. Microsoft joins. hostJeremy Chapmanto takes you under the hood of Windows 11.
This is the first Windows made for ZeroTrust and the hybrid work world. For users, we have eliminated distractions as you work to make it easier for you to concentrate with the new modern interface and improved aesthetics. For IT, we have made additional enhancements designed to fit the gloves in your existing equipment and management processes.
Wi Fi Optimization Tips For Peak Performance
We are the official Microsoft video series for IT. You can view and share valuable content and presentations of current and future technology from the people who created it at Microsoft.
Next time, if you are a Windows fan or a device administrator, I have joined VP Steve Dispensa from the Windows Management Team to get under the hood of Windows 11 with an exclusive look at operational optimizations, including meaning for you. Programs, improvements to the Windows service model and orchestration engine, as well as the management of policies and reasons behind Windows 11 requirements and more. So Steve, welcome to the show.
And it’s really nice to have you. This is a hot topic and we have a lot of questions for you and we want to bring up a lot of information today. So get into it with Windows 11 generally available. It is coming soon. Previews are now available for a few months now, but what is different about this Windows release?
So this is the first Windows made for Zero Trust and the hybrid world where we work from home, in the office and at Everywhere else. So a big topic for Windows 11 is consistency. There are many values, whether you are an end user or an IT expert. For users, we have focused our design efforts on eliminating the distractions you face as you work to make it easier for you to concentrate with the new modern interface and improved aesthetics. . One of my favorite updates is the new way to customize your Windows when you work with Snap Assist, which gives you several guided screen layouts to choose from. And when you make a selection, you can quickly choose which windows go into each area. And then something that is especially important for hybrid work when you need to move around and unlock windows on your monitor will minimize to your laptop. And when you re-file, everything will be back to what you used to be on your monitor, which saves you time when you work from anywhere. So these capabilities and more places to focus on keeping you in your flow. And for IT, we have made a number of enhancements designed to fit gloves into your existing equipment and management processes. The Zero Trust security model is securely run as a layer from the silicon on the board itself to the actual boot process, your login as a user and the applications you use in your Windows session on a daily basis.
Maximizing Dashboard Performance: A Guide To Optimization Techniques For Scalability And Real Time Insights
And listening to you describe the design of Windows 11, one of the things that stands out for me personally is how it feels and how responsive it is. So are there any specific practice improvements we have made?
Yes there is. One of the big changes in the way we provide the Windows experience with better performance in Windows 11 is the way we deal with program and process priorities. So under the hood we have done a lot of memory management to favor the programs windows you run in the foreground so they are prioritized with CPU and other system resources. It also works forward when you launch a running application. For example, you can see in the task manager that my CPU is running with 90% load on it, what we call the internal P90. And it will usually slow you down as you open more apps. So I will launch some programs first Excel and it works fast. I will then snap that window to the left so you can see the task manager on the right. We will now open Word; Again, very fast. And then I will put that window at the bottom of the Excel window. As you can still see in the task manager, despite the heavy load on the CPU, both programs run normally without any lag. And that is because these processes are ahead so they get more computational resources. That is the seconds of time saved in this case. And save extra time when you use the app throughout your day.
So it feels responsive and fast, even the CPU in this case is very stressed at 90 or 95% .
Exactly. Setting priorities is a big part of that. And the same idea applies to Shell Windows Live, your browser, and your launcher in Windows 11. So I actually have an open Edge. And we introduced the sleeping bag out of the box. Here you can see the settings in Edge. In my case, I set it to sleep after five minutes of inactivity. And this is a user or policy that can be defined in this way. And if you look at the browser tabs, you will see that some tabs are asleep as represented by the faded icons. And when I hover over it, for example the adobe.com tab, you will see a notification that the tab is asleep to save resources. And the same goes for these tabs with Microsoft Word when I hover over it. And this for PowerPoint. In fact, when we introduce it, we see an average savings of 32% for memory and 37% for CPU usage. Now all these optimizations combine OS and software as you can imagine with longer battery life.
The Importance Of Performance Optimization In Software Development
I know that for the past practice, we have shown these 15 seconds fast start time, but with Windows 11, the story is really about sleep.
Yes! So take your phone as an example. You rarely turn it off and on again because it forces it to start cooling. Instead, it is still open in connection, waiting, and it is immediately available the minute we interact with it. Therefore, just like your phone, Windows 11 has an instant user experience that improves when your computer starts from sleep. In sleep mode or mode, your S3 RAM is still powered on, so it stays on while most other components are off. Now when you go back to sleep, two things happen. First, we optimized calls to hardware components that needed to be enabled for better overall memory management. And at the software layer, we have reduced hunger across the main processing thread so that energy is saved for the thread that really needs it. This method now enhances sleep continuity by 25%. So for most people, a resume will be done immediately. It also means your device can stay in sleep for longer and not hibernate as often.
As you proceed, the other part of that I saw in person again is the Windows Hello login. That is remarkably fast
