Sony Bravia Tv Problems Won T Turn On

Sony Bravia Tv Problems Won T Turn On – Last night I was watching channels on my TV and encountered a strange problem. My trusty Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100 26 inch flat screen TV has frozen and won’t respond to any controls. Graphics and sound still work, but the controls are frozen. I tried both remote and power button. Even the unit’s volume buttons don’t work.

I went online and found that other Sony Bravia users have experienced this, but God did not see a solution that confirmed. I tried everything, including different types of adjustments and uninstalls. My HDMI device. Nothing works.

I think maybe it’s time for a new TV; After all, mine is more than ten years old. But, I hesitate to throw away my Sony because it still works a lot: screen, sound, signal processing, receiver. Only the control part seems to have been blown.

Bravia Tv Troubleshooting Guide

The next day, I called Santa Monica TV Repair to get an estimate on the fix. I explained the problem to them, and the technician asked, “Is it stuck on the 5.1 channel?” I’m surprised that he can know this without me telling it!!

He said he made five more calls about this. All I have to do is unplug the antenna, then turn on the TV. I tried it and “voila!” It has been fixed!! I can change the channel, then reconnect the antenna, avoiding the 5.1 channel this time. I’m back in control of my TV!

Of course, he said I had to remove the 5.1 channel from my channel, otherwise the problem would reoccur. But, that’s a small price to pay for my TV to work!!

I think what happened was that there was some firmware bug in the TV that was triggered by the digital signal coming from channel 5.1, which is KTLA in my town. (Since first writing this article, KTLA fixed the problem for a while, but it’s back to working incorrectly now. I left channel 5.1 out of my channel selection permanently).

How To Fix Your Sony Bravia Tv When It’s Stuck On A Channel Or Frozen

To get 5.1 channels, or any channel on your Sony Bravia TV, press the Home button on your remote, then the left arrow button to go to the settings menu.

Next, scroll to the offending channel (5.1 in this case) and click “Show” to change it to “Hide”.

Remember to do all this while the antenna is removed or your TV will freeze again! After this, you’ll lose that slot, but at least the remaining slots will work!

A few weeks or months later, I rescanned and the problem with the 5.1 channel disappeared. So wait for a while and rescan to see if the problem resolves itself. If not, disconnect the cable and unplug the channel again.
